We’ve had our adopted child for sixteen days now. She is a delightful young lady, friendly to all. She will sit on command and, except for occasional, uncontrolled excited-to-meet-somebody-new peeing, has learned good bathroom habits. And – drumroll, please – she is even sleeping through the night.
In the time since Sunny joined our family, she has gained 6 1/2 lbs, or slightly more than 50% of her body weight upon arrival. She’s going to be a big girl.

What fun!

P.s., My younger daughter is a much better photographer than I am.
What a great post! Thank you, Mark.
And you are wise to get her started on those chew sticks. We did that with our miniature schnauzers from a very early age with positive results.
Thanks for the note on your new adopted child. We have one as well. Enjoy!
No dogs in my life, regrettably, but my joy is an eastern painted turtle found wandering on our driveway last spring. She was the size of a nickel, now measures in at the astounding enormity of a half-dollar. Great fun. Visiting kids love her. Yes, she is a female. Her name is Miss Shell. One small thing I am thankful for.
Congrats on the new addition to the family!
